Growing up I always loved playing video games. It was a big part of my childhood. After school, I would get dropped off at the bus stop, and I would run home. I would throw my bags on the ground and go straight to my room and play countless hours. I was addicted to the game; I can remember the thrill of the game. I can remember the excitement of beating such a hard level. The adrenalin rushing plays when you clutch a 1v6 while everyone is doubting you. A 1v6 means when there is only one player versus a whole team. Back then, the Xbox was the biggest and fastest growing thing. Love playing video games or not, you can’t deny that you’ve acknowledged the change and progress throughout the years for all video games.I would’ve never expected to play video games on a huge screen from the other side of the room with a wireless controller or that the games graphics would seem so real to make it feel like you’re in the game. Not only does the Xbox give a surreal experience, it also gives us the ability to connect with loved ones. I would have never thought I would be playing with friends or family who are across the globe, or even meeting new people every day. The Xbox Series X-World Premiere- 4K Trailer is a great commercial that shows an amazing 4k screening quality. The Xbox Series X is promoting a minimalist block with smooth frame rates and higher resolution, featuring a 1Terrabite SSD drive which Is equal to 1,000 Gigabyte. Which is why Xbox Series X stands above all other consoles
The commercial uses Aristotle’s Rhetoric in many ways to influence customers to by their products. The advertisement uses a voice over to enhance the tone of the commercial and create a suspenseful mood for the buyers. Throughout the advertisement, it provided me with an emotion using ethos. One element that caught my attention was the strength of the narration. The narrator spoke about being able to accomplish any dream during the time on the Xbox Series X. According to the advertisement, “let’s suppose that you were able every night to dream any dream you wanted to dream and that you could have the power within one night to dream seventy five years of time and would naturally as you began on this adventure of Dreams fulfill all your wishes.” This indicates that one night of gaming with the Xbox Series X would feel as if you are dreaming, not any dream, but a dream of your choice. One that lasts seventy-five years and during this dream you can accomplish anything you want. This helps the audience emotionally connect with the author as he bribes us with the satisfaction of a fantasy world. Because of this, our minds obtain the urge to invest in this product, hoping it lives up to our expectations.
Imagine having a dream that has so many things happening that it feels like a rollercoaster. One you cannot control, and you want to stay in this dream to have greater and greater adventures. The advertisement also indicates, “but now let’s um let’s have a surprise let’s have a dream which isn’t under control and then you would get more and more adventures and you would make further and further out Gamble’s as to what you would dream finally you would dream where you are now”. This means that in a dream that has so many amazing adventures, it also has so many unpredictable gamble’s in your dream. The dream you would want to dream is currently with the Xbox Series X which is almost a dream like system.
When it comes to buying the Xbox Series X these companies tend look at a certain age group of people that would most likely buy their product. Although at a very young age you would love to play video games, I don’t believe the younger kids would be the ones buying it, not only do they not afford it, but they would only get it as a birthday present or for a holiday. They would be glad to just be playing any game. They also would end up playing with an older brother’s or on their fathers’ console, maybe even a relative. The targeted audience for this commercial would have to be anyone who is about the age twelve and older. For the twelve through sixteen most kids would be asking and begging their parents to buy them the Xbox Series X system. For the ages eighteen and above you start to want something that’s newer; you focus on the advertisements and looking more into HD quality, frame rates, and screen quality. That also is when you start to understand more about different consoles and seeing which is better. In in the article “Microsoft Shows How the Xbox Series X Can Boost Frame Rates on Older Xbox Games” it says, “the next-generation console is able to enhance the old games, thanks to more powerful hardware on board, which includes the NVMe SSD for faster loading times”. This means that because of the new hardware in this Xbox, it will make your game have a faster loading screen time. It also means that the Xbox automatically make any game graphics look so much better no matter how old or new the game is. The article also states, “the company showed a video of an Xbox series X console doubling the frame rates on fallout 4 to 60 FPS for buttery smooth gameplay.” This indicates that while playing the game it will double the frames per second to make the game smoother, faster, and better overall.
When it comes to stress, researchers have found out the video games can actually be good for our stress levels. According to the passage, “The Link Between Video Games and Stress Relief” it states, “one study examined players as they played either competitive or cooperative games. As predicted, there was a difference in stress levels after playing, and those who played cooperatively experience a greater decrease in stress levels, but the difference was late-both groups experience decrease in stress by playing the game.” This means that after doing a study with two groups who are both playing different video games, it showed that even though they played different game categories, cooperative games had a greater decrease but both groups overall had a decrease in stress levels. This article also states, “ researchers also examined the relationships among work-related fatigue, daily hassles, social support, coping style, recovery experience, and the use of video and computer games for recovery purposes and found that people who more strongly associated gameplay with stress recovery used video and computer games more often after exhausting and stressful situations”. This indicates that after doing a study with people who are tired after work or from any other stress relating hassles showed that they used computer and other types of video games as recovery. I can completely agree with that because I can remember a long hard day at work and how stressful it was because it would be very busy. Then the best and the greatest way to relax/cool down was to come home shower, eat dinner and play video games; not only was it a great way to relieve stress but I would always have a great and fun time doing so.
In conclusion, video games were the biggest part of my childhood. Even till this day I love playing video games, any time I have a chance to play, I would. I believe that this commercial is well done and demonstrates the Xbox well. By using voice over to achieve ethos and adding a great theme music, it helps the viewer engage and catch the audience’s attention.
